Gensler seeks a Design Manager in Oakland to lead design teams through conceptual development to technical documentation. You will collaborate with clients, consultants, and stakeholders to shape contracts, schedules, and design quality, guiding projects from concept to permit-ready plans.

You bring a professional architecture degree, about 8+ years of experience across multiple building typologies, and strong leadership, communication and collaboration skills to drive successful built work.

Qualifications

• Professional degree in Architecture with a rigorous portfolio.
• Approximately 8+ years of architectural experience on multiple building typologies.
• Portfolio of built work demonstrating design or technical execution.
• Proficiency in delegating and coordinating digital design tools.
• Public speaking skills and ability to moderate large teams.
• Strong collaboration skills across the firm, clients, and consultants.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage design teams through conceptual development and technical execution.
• Engage directly with clients for contracts, schedules, and RFP coordination.
• Manage client, team, and project coordination with engineers and consultants.
• Support communication between project team, clients, vendors, and authorities.
• Provide design support and documentation during completion and execution.
