Job summary

DASNY (Dormitory Authority - State of New York) seeks a Design Manager to lead design project management, reviews, and construction observation for complex DASNY projects. You will oversee consultants, coordinate with clients and regulatory bodies, and ensure designs meet codes and program goals.

The role requires strong leadership, deep architectural knowledge, and experience in healthcare or higher education facilities, plus a valid NY driver’s license.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree; five years’ relevant architectural experience with building and/or facilities construction and two years of supervisory experience.
• Associates degree may be substituted with at least eight years of relevant experience and two years of supervisory experience.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license.
• Licensed NYS Architect preferred for higher education/healthcare projects.

Responsibilities

• Manage design project development during pre-design and design phases; coordinate with clients and consultants.
• Perform site visits to monitor design and construction quality.
• Review technical designs, plans, specs, addenda and change orders.
• Provide technical assistance and recommendations to staff and client representatives.
• Coordinate with Project Management to resolve project issues; prepare management reports.
