Job summary

American Equipment seeks a Design Manager to lead Mechanical and Electrical Design teams in Salt Lake City, Utah. You will drive the transition from 2D drafting to 3D design, establish standards, and ensure high-quality engineering for custom overhead crane systems.

You will mentor engineers, manage performance, and collaborate across departments to deliver projects on time. The role requires strong leadership, strategic thinking, and experience with CAD platforms.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required in Mechanical/Electrical/Engineering Technology or related field.
• 8+ years in engineering design for manufacturing or heavy industry.
• 5+ years leading design teams and delivering 2D to 3D design transitions.

Responsibilities

• Lead Mechanical and Electrical Design teams to deliver custom overhead crane solutions.
• Oversee migration from 2D drafting to 3D design and modeling standards.
• Provide technical oversight and ensure design deliverables meet customer requirements and safety standards.
• Drive recruitment, onboarding, and development of design personnel.
• Improve engineering processes, KPIs, and collaboration with PM, Manufacturing, QA, and Service.
