Job summary

Amplitude is seeking a strong design leader to guide a 15-person design team through the next growth phase. This player-coach role combines team management with hands-on contribution to design quality across Core Amplitude, Statsig, and Wave, including AI-enabled experiences.

You will shape strategy, maintain coherent, high-quality workflows, and ensure customer-centric outcomes while balancing speed and craftsmanship.

Qualifications

Managed senior, independent IC designers and earned their respect through product and craft judgment.
Shipped products that moved real customer and business metrics, fast.
Created structure inside a messy, high-growth organization.
Shipped AI-native experiences and used AI tools in practice.

Responsibilities

Build the team: hire, grow, and retain a high-performing design team with direct, specific feedback.
Set direction: drive the design strategy for Amplitude's product suite and define agent-human workflows.
Champion craft: elevate product design quality through execution and craft.
Hold a high bar: set standards for quality and prevent bottlenecks while preserving speed in production.
Stay in production: push on details and edge cases, ensuring ships match the vision.
Speak for the customer: represent the voice of the customer in leadership discussions.
