Job summary

TerraPower in Bellevue, WA seeks a Design Lead for Reactor Components to lead the mechanical design of reactor equipment for the Natrium project. You will coordinate a geographically diverse team of engineers and scientists to deliver robust design documentation and analyses.

The role requires 10+ years in mechanical design, strong ASME Sect III knowledge, and excellent technical writing and collaboration skills.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Mechanical or related discipline and 10+ years direct experience with proven mechanical systems skills.
• Leading mechanical design of complex structures and equipment in high temperature and multi-discipline integration.
• Working knowledge of the ASME Sect III Code is highly desired.
• Diverse and robust experience leading mechanical design of complex structures and equipment in high temperature and multi-discipline integration; nuclear experience highly desired.
• Excellent technical writing, communication, and presentation skills.
• Self-starter with ability to coordinate and lead a design team's effort with minimal direction.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate a geographically diverse design team to develop reactor equipment and supporting engineering documentation.
• Lead design activities of a set of integral reactor components from requirements through final design and fabrication.
• Develop analyses (thermal, seismic, structural, creep, shielding) for design and ensure integration with reactor design.
• Provide technical direction, reviews, and ensure compliance with design integration.
• Design to project codes of record, including ASME BPVC Sect III Div 5.
• Interface with fabricators and reactor assembler for manufacturability and assembly criteria.
• Lead creation and revision of drawing packages to support analysis, manufacturing, and interfaces.
• Coordinate with other disciplines to develop equipment interface controls and design criteria envelopes.
• Provide oversight of supplier activities and participate in technical reviews of deliverables.
• Propose/testing programs for equipment qualification and oversee test execution.
