Job summary

HDR is seeking a Design Intern to work closely with architects and project teams. You will assist in real-world projects, develop design concepts, and gain exposure to presentation graphics and construction documentation.

You will be mentored by experienced professionals and participate in the architectural design process, contributing to team deliverables and client communications.

Qualifications

  • Must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program.
  • Attention to detail is essential for design development and drafting tasks.
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills are required.
  • Basic Microsoft Office skills needed for documentation and presentation materials.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the architectural design process under supervision by an Architect, Project Manager, or other professionals.
  • Participate in design development and develop alternative solutions and presentation graphics for client or agency approval.
  • Follow design development drawings and models and collaborate with production staff for technical details and construction drawings.
  • Perform other duties as needed.

In the role of Design Intern

  • Offer real-world experience on exciting projects
  • Connect with recent college graduates and our company leaders through mentoring and young professionals programs
  • Perform assignments under the direct supervision of an Architect, Project Manager, or other professionals
  • Participate in the architectural design process, and develop alternative solutions and presentation graphics used to communicate concepts to client or for agency approval
  • Follow through on design development drawings and models, and collaborate with production staff for technical details and completion of construction drawings
  • Perform other duties as needed
Preferred Qualifications
  • 2 years completed toward degree with 3.0 GPA
  • Demonstrated knowledge of software packages related to field of study/industry
Required Qualifications
  • Must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program
  • Attention to detail
  • Must possess strong problem-solving and communication skills
  • Basic Microsoft Office skills
