Job summary

Armstrong World Industries is seeking an AS Design Estimator to prepare estimates for custom metal, wood, fiberglass, and other specialty items. You will collaborate with contractors and architects, study plans, and coordinate with CAD/design engineering and manufacturing to support early design decisions.

The role requires strong math skills, experience with estimating software, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a team-driven environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma/GED required.
• 1-3 years’ experience as an estimator in a similar industry preferred.
• Strong mathematical abilities and experience using labor rates, machine time, material costs and usage, freight, etc. to calculate and quote projects.
• Experience reading engineering and architectural blueprints and specifications preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepares estimates for all projects within their assigned territory.
• Follows all document procedures as outlined in the Estimating Manual.
• Understands and uses Excel worksheets to quote projects.
• Generates Requests for Information (RFI) where appropriate.
• Works with in-house resources to establish cost and price on custom items.
• Obtains current pricing from source partners and/or internal plants as required to prepare estimates as listed above.
• Communicates with customers daily to provide status updates as outlined in the Estimating Manual.
