Job summary

Xcel Energy is offering an internship within the Monticello Design Engineering Team. You will contribute to capital projects, safety improvements, and reporting tool enhancements while engaging in hands-on engineering tasks.

The role requires a current ABET‑accredited program student in electrical, mechanical, or civil engineering, with the ability to work full-time in the summer and part-time during the school year, under a hybrid policy.

Qualifications

• Current student, Sophomore or higher enrolled in an ABET-accredited college or university.
• Pursuing a degree in electrical, mechanical or civil engineering.
• Willing to travel occasionally to meet with engineers & interns at downtown facilities and Prairie Island.

Responsibilities

• Support Monticello Design Engineering Team and Capital Projects.
• Work on industrial safety improvement items (shaft guards, platforms, etc.).
• Improve reporting tools used by site engineers and integration of AI tools into design activities.
• Assist early screening of outage modifications and site troubleshooting.
