Job summary

ITT Aerospace Controls offers an internship in Valencia, California, for a Summer 2027 Engineering Design Intern position. The role runs May–August 2027 (full-time, 40 hours/week, 12 weeks).

Qualifications

• Must be a US citizen or permanent resident due to export regulations.

Responsibilities

• Conduct research, design, analysis, testing, and documentation for products (composites, metals, elastomerics, heaters, acoustics, aerodynamics).
• Support engineering teams with CAD updates, modeling, and design optimization.
• Assist in testing activities and data interpretation; maintain records and reports.

Essential Responsibilities

This position will involve research, design, analysis, testing, and documentation for products such as composites, metals, elastomerics, electric heaters, acoustics, and aerodynamics.

Position Requirements

• Must be currently enrolled in Mechanical Engineering or closely related field and in good standing
• Junior and Senior students are preferred
• Knowledge/experience in CAD design, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
• Must be a US Citizen or US permanent resident due to export regulations
• 40 hours per week (12 week internship)

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with SolidWorks and/or Catia v5/v6
• Experience with FEA software, such as ANSYS or NASTRAN
• Experience with MATLAB/Simulink
• Design experience
• Testing experience
• Specific experience in the aerospace industry and knowledge of the processes employed is a plus
