Job summary

Ultimate Staffing Services, on behalf of its client in Massachusetts, is seeking an experienced Design Engineer to join the team on-site in Pittsfield, MA. The role focuses on creating and maintaining detailed 2D and 3D models, engineering drawings, and vehicle assembly layouts, with emphasis on solving design challenges and supporting manufacturing operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 5+ years of mechanical engineering experience.
• 3+ years in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong proficiency with SolidWorks.
• Experience with PDM and ERP systems.
• Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Excellent communication and teamwork.
• Experience designing fabricated metal components preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design metal fabricated parts and assemblies using SolidWorks 3D CAD software.
• Develop complete vehicle models and engineering documentation for production teams.
• Create and maintain detailed engineering drawings and specifications.
• Manage engineering files using PDM and ERP systems.
• Coordinate multiple projects with varying priorities and deadlines.
• Collaborate with production personnel to review designs and resolve manufacturing concerns.
• Process and implement Engineering Change Requests (ECRs).
• Assist in creating and maintaining Bills of Materials (BOMs).
• Support continuous improvement through design optimization and improved manufacturing processes.
• Ensure designs meet quality, performance, and manufacturability requirements.
