Job summary

TAE Technologies, Inc. is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to complete complex 2D/3D CAD tasks, model parts and assemblies, and prepare detailed drawings from instructions.

You will coordinate with staff to resolve design issues, lead design reviews, and produce drawings and BOMs for procurement. The role requires 2+ years in mechanical design with 3D modeling, proficiency in SolidWorks or CATIA, GD&T, and DFMA, plus hands‑on installation experience.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in a mechanical design role using 3‑D modeling.
• Ability to generate detailed mechanical and electro‑mechanical design solutions, drawings for mechanical and electrical systems, using SolidWorks (newer versions preferred) or CATIA.
• Basic working knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerance (ASME Y14.5M).
• Experience with DFMA (design for manufacturing assembly).
• Capable of performing hands‑on installation of designed components on projects.
• Experience with precision measuring instruments.
• Proficient in SolidWorks or CATIA and PDM.
• International travel: 10% of the time (not required).
• Experience with large assemblies and machine shops is nice to have.
• Education: BS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent education and/or 5+ years experience (required); MS in Mechanical Engineering (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Complete complex 2‑ and 3‑D CAD design assignments, including modeling parts and assemblies, creating detail and layout drawings from written or verbal instructions.
• Coordinate and consult with staff to design, layout, detail components and systems, and resolve design problems.
• Host and actively participate in team design reviews to improve quality and functionality.
• Produce and maintain working drawings, detail drawings, bills of material, and procurement documentation; answer vendor questions as needed.
• Perform quality‑and‑quantity checks on completed products.
• Test, inspect, assemble, and install final parts and assemblies, providing direction to technicians.
• Handle multiple projects simultaneously while remaining flexible and adaptable.
• Communicate effectively with engineering, physics/science, project management, and procurement groups.
