Job summary

Actalent is seeking a Design Engineer in Fresno, CA to design, implement, and optimize manufacturing processes and custom mechanical equipment from concept through production. You will ensure designs are practical, reliable, and manufacturable while collaborating with operations and stakeholders.

You will create 3D models and drawings in SolidWorks, apply lean methods, and support design reviews and production readiness activities to improve throughput and quality.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience using SolidWorks or similar CAD software for mechanical design.
• Minimum 2 years in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong background in mechanical/product design or manufacturing engineering.
• Experience designing systems, assemblies, and components.
• Familiarity with design-for-manufacturing concepts and CAD drawing creation.

Responsibilities

• Design custom mechanical components, assemblies, and equipment based on project requirements.
• Develop and optimize manufacturing processes to improve efficiency, quality, and safety.
• Create and modify 3D models and engineering drawings using SolidWorks.
• Design and integrate mechanical and fluid power systems into larger equipment assemblies.
• Collaborate with operations, production, and stakeholders to define requirements and develop engineering solutions.
• Support projects from concept through manufacturing, including design reviews and production readiness activities.
• Apply Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement methodologies.
• Troubleshoot manufacturing and mechanical issues and implement corrective actions.
• Coordinate with machining, fabrication, and production teams to ensure designs are manufacturable and cost-effective.
• Manage engineering deliverables and project timelines.
• Identify opportunities to improve throughput, reduce waste, and enhance product quality.
• Ensure designs comply with applicable engineering standards and best practices.
