Caterpillar Inc. in Lafayette, IN, is seeking a Design Engineer for the G3500 Engine Platform. You will support NPI, CPI, factory support, and cost-reduction initiatives for LPSD G3500 engines and collaborate with engine application, performance, and component teams to define requirements and deliver solutions.

Relocation assistance is available; sponsorship is NOT approved. Travel up to 10% and a 5-day in-office presence are expected. Degree in engineering is required.

Responsibilities

• Lead NTI/NPI engineering initiatives and provide leadership.
• Drive CPI projects using Six Sigma DMAIC for root cause and validation.
• Ensure functional requirements and cost targets are met.
• Configure product price lists and manage BOM configuration.
• Guide engine hardware design direction with L3 systems engineers.
• Perform DFMEAs to drive validation for product changes.
• Lead design reviews with cross-functional teams.
• Support production factory builds and CTS/VDRA processes.
• Coordinate ARC files and Product Structure management.
• Assist customer service and marketing with technical inquiries.
• Collaborate with component, validation, and operations teams for robust solutions.
