Job summary

Kiewit Scholars Summer 2027 Internship in Omaha, NE invites you to join a hands-on design engineering track within our construction operations. You will support field teams in planning, scheduling, and safety, while learning to develop plans and mitigate risks on complex projects.

Ideal candidates are undergrad/grad students in civil engineering or construction management, enrolled in our partner universities, and willing to travel or relocate for the summer.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in civil engineering, construction management or related.
• Currently enrolled at Colorado School of Mines, Iowa State University, Purdue University, University of Colorado‑Boulder, or University of Nebraska‑Lincoln and a member of the Kiewit Scholars Program.
• Ability to travel or relocate as needed.
• Ability to work full-time during the summer (approximately May-August).
• Must have a valid Driver's License and reliable transportation to and from work.
• Demonstrated safety focus, ethics and initiative, and strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Field engineering, operation planning, cost control, project scheduling, quantity tracking, material procurement, contract administration, estimating & supervision of field activities.
• Performing engineering tasks requiring standard techniques and handling minor problems of a technical nature arising during construction.
• Maintaining records regarding job progress, costs, material usage, etc.
• Planning and scheduling of job and/or job segments.
• Reviewing plans and specifications to determine material requirements and pricing.
