Job summary

LiquidPiston, Inc. is seeking Design Engineer Interns to join our mechanical design and engine development teams in Suffield, CT.

These roles focus on hands-on component and subsystem design for rotary engines, taking concepts through CAD modeling, prototyping, and testing iterations. You’ll work closely with senior design engineers, simulation specialists, and test teams in a collaborative, prototype-heavy environment, contributing to next-generation propulsion systems and real-world product

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Strong SolidWorks or equivalent CAD software proficiency.
• Hands-on mindset with prototyping or machining experience.

Responsibilities

• Support conceptual and detailed design of rotary engine components using CAD tools.
• Create and modify 3D models, assemblies, and drawings following standards.
• Assist in design analysis with hand calculations and basic FEA.
• Participate in rapid prototyping and in-house fabrication processes.
• Document designs and changes in reports and project tools.
• Collaborate across mechanical, manufacturing, controls, and test teams.
