Job summary

Kiewit invites motivated engineering students to join our Design Engineer Intern program, gaining hands-on experience across construction design, planning, and risk mitigation. You will work within a dynamic team, developing concepts, reviewing calculations, and contributing to project success while learning company standards and tools.

This internship emphasizes growth mindset, safety, and opportunity for travel across multiple districts.

Qualifications

Must travel or relocate as needed.
Must be available full-time during the summer (May–August).
Pursuing undergrad/grad degree in civil engineering, construction management or related.
Enrolled at listed universities and member of Kiewit Scholars Program.

Responsibilities

Field engineering, operation planning, cost control, project scheduling, quantity tracking, material procurement, contract administration, estimating & supervision of field activities.
Perform engineering tasks using standard techniques and address minor technical issues during construction.
Maintain records on job progress, costs, material usage, etc.
Plan and schedule job segments and activities.
Investigate problems and propose solutions or alternatives.
Review plans & specs to determine material requirements and pricing.
Coordinate with suppliers to facilitate material delivery.
