Job summary

Kiewit offers a hands-on construction internship in the Transportation market, providing exposure to field engineering, planning, procurement and project coordination. Interns learn by supporting design engineers and site teams, with opportunities to participate in safety, quality, and risk management activities.

Ideal candidates are pursuing civil engineering or construction management degrees, willing to travel/relocate, and available full-time during the summer May–August.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in civil engineering, construction management or related.
• Enrolled at specified universities and member of the Kiewit Scholars Program.

Responsibilities

• Field engineering, operation planning, cost control, project scheduling, quantity tracking, material procurement, contract administration, estimating & supervision of field activities.
• Perform engineering tasks using standard techniques and address minor technical issues on site.
• Maintain records on job progress, costs and material usage.
• Plan and schedule job segments to meet client needs.
• Investigate problems and incidents and propose solutions.
• Review plans and specifications for material requirements and pricing.
• Coordinate with suppliers to facilitate delivery of materials.

Education

Undergraduate or graduate degree in civil engineering or construction management

Enrollment in listed universities (Colorado School of Mines, Iowa State University, Purdue University, University of Colorado-Boulder, University of Nebraska-Lincoln) and Kiewit Scholars Program
