Job summary

CrossFire Group is seeking a mid-level Design Engineer II for our New Hudson, MI site. The role focuses on mechanical system design, parametric 3D modeling, structural analysis, and engineering documentation.

The ideal candidate has strong CAD and ANSYS Mechanical experience, GD&T knowledge, and the ability to collaborate with customers, engineers, technicians, and manufacturing teams to deliver robust designs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Automotive Engineering or related field.
• At least three years of professional engineering experience.
• Strong parametric 3D CAD modeling experience with Creo, Siemens NX, or CATIA.
• Hands-on ANSYS Mechanical Workbench experience.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop vehicle, mechanical product, and system components.
• Create system physics models and characterize mechanical performance.
• Develop CAD concepts, components, assemblies, and packaging layouts.
• Design structural components such as frames, brackets, and subframes.
• Apply linear-static finite element analysis to evaluate and optimize designs.
• Use ANSYS Mechanical Workbench to perform structural analysis.
• Develop detailed engineering drawings using GD&T standards.
• Prepare and present project updates and technical findings.
• Develop test plans, procedures, and reports (DVP&R).
• Support technicians and manufacturing during builds.
• Respond to engineering change requests and resolve design questions.
