Job summary

Zobility seeks an experienced design engineer responsible for product and system design and development, with the ability to lead the technical execution of a small team in Michigan.

You will drive mechanical system design using CAD and perform structural analysis (FEA), supporting modeling to justify decisions and spanning from concept to detailed drawings within a project team led by a design team lead.

Qualifications

• BS in Mechanical, Aerospace, Automotive Engineering, or equivalent.
• Experience in parametric 3D modeling and GD&T.
• Strong CAD and Ansys Mechanical experience.

Responsibilities

• Vehicle and Product System Design and Development.
• System physics modeling and characterization.
• CAD system and component concept development and packaging.
• Application of linear-static Finite Element Analysis in design optimization.
• Prepare and present project status reports.
• Test design, development, and reporting (DVP&R).

Job description

• Experienced design engineer with core responsibilities including product and system design and development with an ability to lead the technical execution of a small team.
• The main focus will be mechanical system and product design using CAD and structural analysis (FEA), supported by systems modeling to substantiate the lower-level decisions.
• Will span from initial concepts through detailed drawing execution while working within a project team under the review of a design team lead.
• System-level design leadership and direction is a responsibility of this position.

Responsibilities:

• Vehicle and Product System Design and Development
• System physics modeling and characterization.
• CAD system and component concept development and packaging.
• Application of linear-static Finite Element Analysis in design optimization.
• Prepare and present project status reports.
• Test design, development, and reporting (DVP&R).
• Guidance of lower-level engineers in their efforts.

Project Support

• Support and resolve customer problems using mechanical, analytical, CAE and project management skills.
• Prepare technical specifications for use by Pratt Miller Engineering.
• Develop testing methods and procedures for use by Pratt Miller Engineering.
• Support manufacturing by answering questions and responding to ECRs.
• Investigate alternative business opportunities.
• Function as system-level primary customer contact in some scenarios.

• Creo/NX and/or Catia
• Strong technical writing, communication, team, and organizational skills.
• Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint).
• Strong CAD and Ansys Mechanical User Top notch communication skills

Physical Demands:

• Ability to support technicians and shop builds.
