Job summary

SIG SAUER, Inc. is seeking an entry-level Design Engineer I to develop optics and accessories, manage legacy improvements, and collaborate across Manufacturing, Electrical, Optical, and Quality teams.

The role supports design decisions with analysis summaries and requires 0–3 years of related experience in an R&D environment. Strong CAD, GD&T, and manufacturing knowledge are preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering with 0–3 years of related R&D experience preferred.
• Familiar with manufacturing methods including machining, molding, stamping and casting.
• Experience using CAD software to generate fully dimensioned drawings.
• Knowledge of GD&T and ASME Y14.5 standards.

Responsibilities

• Develop optics parts and/or accessory products meeting requirements.
• Create drawings with proper dimensioning, GD&T, and datum structures for inspection.
• Perform basic tolerance analyses and ensure manufacturability.
• Run analyses using Motion, FEA, CFD, Python, Zemax, or similar tools.
• Contribute to PLM activities—part numbers, BOMs, and change orders.
• Draft test plans and work with technicians to validate designs.
• Assist in 5S and safety procedures and participate in continuous improvement.
