Job summary

Ferrara Fire Apparatus is seeking an entry-level design engineer to assist in developing fire apparatus components. You will work with CAD/CAE tools to create and review engineering drawings, verify designs with calculations, and support lean manufacturing initiatives on the plant floor.

The role emphasizes collaboration with production teams, adherence to design rules, and contribution to robust engineering packages through problem solving and iterative testing.

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree of Engineering, Engineering Technology, or equivalent education required.
• Typically requires 0-2 years of related experience.

Responsibilities

• Assist with designing and developing minimum complexity products and components.
• Use CAD/CAE software to develop the structural design of various products, model new designs, and produce detailed engineering drawings.
• Verify designs through calculations and other analytical techniques and tools.
• Understand manufacturing processes with emphasis on metal fabrication and assemblies; apply DFM methodologies.
• Fulfill customer requirements (shop orders) considering design rules and interface points.
• Define test requirements and interpret test results to validate designs.
