Job summary

Lockheed Martin in Fort Worth, TX seeks a Design Engineer for the Integrated Fighter Group. You will apply GD&T, manage 3D CAD models, and verify drawings for F-16 retrofit and production programs, ensuring design integrity and downstream readiness.

You will collaborate across disciplines to identify compatibility issues, uphold ASME Y14.5 standards, and drive clean, accurate engineering documentation using CATIA V5 and related tools.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree with 1–2 years professional experience.
  • Knowledge of ASME drawings and Y14.5 GD&T.
  • Familiar with CATIA V5 or CAD software.
  • Experience reading and interpreting engineering drawings.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and investigate design factors on F-16 retrofit and production drawings and 3-D models.
  • Identify design compatibility errors for downstream users.
  • Ensure engineering designs meet contractual and program requirements.
  • Apply GD&T (ASME Y14.5) in drawings and tolerancing.
  • Work with CAD systems and 3D models to support releases.

What You Will Be Doing

As the Design Engineer you will be responsible for applying technical expertise to check and verify engineering drawings across structures, systems installation, harness, wire installation, AEI, supplier SCD, standards, and more.

"Your responsibilities will include:"

  • Evaluate and investigate pertinent design factors on F‑16 retrofit and production engineering design, 3‑D models and drawings including all related design data
  • Identify design compatibility errors and verify all features are of one interpretation, complete and adequate for downstream users
  • Ensure the engineering design, models/drawings and related data meet all contractual, company, and program requirements
  • Utilize working knowledge and application experience of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing based on ASME Y14.5 along with ASME Y14.100 Engineering Drawing Practices
  • Utilize working knowledge and application experience on a computer‑aided design system with 3D experience

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college in a related discipline, equivalent experience/ combined education considered, with 1 to 2 years of professional experience
  • Knowledge of ASME drawings and Y14.5 GD&T
  • Familiar with CATIA V5 or CAD software
  • Prior experience reading and interpreting engineering drawings
Desired Skills
  • Prior experience with Engineering change processes and change orders
  • Prior experience Engineering checking.
  • Familiar with retrofit/service action and multiple type/version effectivities
  • Very detail oriented with good verbal and written communication skills
  • One-team mindset to achieve common goal
Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $70500.00 - $130900.00

  • For (Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
