Job summary

Cohere Health is seeking a design engineer to own Waypoint, our design system, spanning Figma and production code. This role is not a designer who codes a little or an engineer who dabbles in Figma; you’ll define component behavior in Figma and ship the same component to npm, owning the Figma side and contributing to core Waypoint.

You’ll bridge design and code, shape token pipelines, document usage, and help evolve Waypoint to serve models as consumers.

Qualifications

• Own and evolve the Figma library for Waypoint: component structure, variants, properties, and documentation.
• Build and maintain core Waypoint components and contribute to our component packages.
• Keep design tokens in Figma and code representations in sync (CSS properties, Tailwind).
• Partner with product designers and engineers to ensure easy adoption of components.
• Help define workflows and tooling to connect Figma and code beyond handoff.
• Write documentation and usage guidance to scale the system.

Responsibilities

• Own and evolve the Figma library for Waypoint: component structure, variants, properties, and documentation.
• Build and maintain core Waypoint components, contributing to our component packages.
• Work across our token pipeline to keep Figma and code tokens in sync.
• Collaborate with design and engineering to translate patterns into system components.
• Define workflows and tooling connecting Figma and code beyond handoff.
• Document usage to prevent bottlenecks as the system grows.
• Weigh system-architecture decisions, versioning, and packaging changes.
