Job summary

Cohere is seeking a design engineer to own Waypoint, our design system, across the Figma library and production code. You’ll balance design decisions with engineering constraints, shipping components to npm and refining tokens and tooling for synchronization.

You’ll work with product designers and engineers to translate patterns into reusable components, while shaping workflows that scale for AI-ready models and future system evolution.

Qualifications

• Experience maintaining design tokens and components in a design system.
• Ability to bridge design and engineering with clear documentation.
• Familiarity with design-to-code workflows and tooling.

Responsibilities

• Own and evolve the Figma library for Waypoint with documentation.
• Build and maintain core Waypoint components within packages.
• Keep design tokens in Figma and code representations synced.
• Collaborate with designers and engineers to adopt components.
• Define workflows and tooling to connect Figma and code.
• Write usage guidance so the system scales without bottlenecks.
• Contribute to system architecture decisions and versioning.
• Help shape future AI-ready design systems.
