Résumé du poste

Conair LLC in Stamford, CT is seeking a Design Engineer to shape the next generation of culinary products, applying strong engineering fundamentals and hands-on CAD and prototyping skills. The role creates mechanical and electromechanical designs and works with cross-functional teams to turn concepts into production-ready solutions.

The position emphasizes CAD work, GD&T, DFM/DFA, and knowledge of molding, casting, sheet metal, and machining processes, plus prototyping, testing, and design

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electromechanical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline; advanced degree or relevant training is a plus.
  • 5+ years designing heated or motorized culinary equipment, appliances, electromechanical products, or durable goods.
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD, such as SolidWorks or Creo, and PDM/PLM systems, with strong drawing and GD&T skills.
  • Experience designing mechanical or electromechanical systems involving heating, motors, controls, sensors, sheet metal, plastics, castings, or fabricated components.
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes and DFM/DFA, including injection molding, die casting, stamping, and machining.
  • Experience taking designs from concept through prototyping, validation, tooling, and production release.
  • Experience designing for durability, sanitation, continuous‑duty operation, and serviceability.
  • Experience with engineering analysis tools such as FEA, tolerance analysis, or thermal simulation.
  • Experience collaborating with industrial designers, global suppliers, contract manufacturers, and cross‑functional teams.
  • Familiarity with product safety and sanitation standards such as UL, NSF, and CSA.
  • Ability to solve complex design problems, communicate technical decisions, and balance performance, quality, cost, and schedule.

Responsabilités

  • Create mechanical and electromechanical designs for culinary products from concept through production release, balancing performance, quality, cost, and manufacturability.
  • Develop detailed 3D CAD models, assemblies, 2D drawings, and BOMs, applying GD&T and tolerance stack‑up analysis.
  • Translate customer, industrial design, and business requirements into engineering specifications and design solutions.
  • Design parts for injection molding, die casting, sheet metal, machining, and other applicable manufacturing processes.
  • Build, test, and refine prototypes, using engineering analysis such as FEA, thermal, and fluid analysis to make sound design tradeoffs.
  • Lead and participate in design reviews, presenting design concepts, analysis results, risks, and recommendations.
  • Collaborate with Industrial Design, Project Engineering, Global Engineering, suppliers, and manufacturers to refine designs for tooling and production.
  • Mentor junior engineers and designers, promoting strong CAD practices, design standards, and engineering fundamentals.
  • Partner with Validation and Certification teams to define design verification tests and ensure designs meet performance, safety, and compliance requirements.
  • Analyze test results, identify root causes of design issues, and implement design improvements.
  • Support tooling reviews, DFM feedback, and pilot builds, resolving design‑related production issues and managing engineering change documentation.
  • Apply DFM/DFA principles to optimize designs for quality, cost, manufacturability, serviceability, and reliability.
  • Explore emerging technologies, materials, mechanisms, and design tools, and incorporate customer, field, and service feedback into product improvements.
  • Share lessons learned and contribute to CAD standards, design guidelines, and engineering best practices.
