  • Oversee and review external consultants' work for quality and compliance with project requirements.
  • Coordinate with surveyors and real estate specialists regarding property acquisition and easement needs.
  • Develop materials and participate in pre-bid meetings, public engagement presentations, construction meetings, and other project events.
  • Analyze engineering problems, assess solutions, and recommend actions aligned with project goals.
  • Conduct field inspections to resolve design discrepancies and verify information; collaborate with survey teams and contractors.
  • Conduct feasibility studies evaluating technical, economic, and environmental factors.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned

Requirements


  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or applicable engineering discipline

  • Engineer I: Experience using Autodesk Civil3D or similar CAD software

  • Engineer II: Significant professional-level engineering experience with design of public works capital improvement projects, or considerable related engineering experience plus 1 required certification

  • Engineer III: Progressively responsible significant engineering experience with design of public works capital improvement projects, or significant related engineering experience plus 2 required certifications

  • Experience may not be substituted for the Engineering Degree requirement

  • Master's Degree in Civil Engineering may substitute for one year of engineering experience

  • Valid driver's license, or ability to obtain one by time of appointment

  • Ability to travel around Arlington County for meetings and field inspections

  • Ability to attend occasional local and state events, including outside regular hours

  • Background check authorization, including criminal, driving, education, professional licensure, and credit history checks

  • Complete application and attached resume

  • Assignment-based certifications or training may be required for Engineer II and III
