Job summary

Trex Company in Winchester, VA is seeking a Design Engineer to create and maintain 3D CAD models and 2D drawings to enhance throughput and performance. You will be an innovator in the Advanced Manufacturing Engineering team, gathering ideas from multiple departments and turning them into robust, manufacturable CAD models and drawings.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree in engineering and 3+ years in manufacturing with emphasis on design/optimization.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering required.
• 3+ years in manufacturing with design/optimization focus.
• Experience with SolidWorks or AutoCAD; assemblies, drawings, sheet metal, weldments.
• Familiarity with machining processes and collaborating with machining teams.

Responsibilities

• Participate in and lead cross-functional teams to gather feedback and identify opportunities for improvement through tooling or mechanical systems.
• Communicate with internal machine shop and external vendors to ensure efficient manufacturing and implementation of designs.
• Provide design assistance to the process development group from concept through implementation stages.
• Reverse engineer existing parts using 3D scans and legacy drawings.
• Conduct design checks and provide feedback to minimize errors.
• Support development of systems and processes that streamline design and manufacturing.
• Manage prioritization of activities to meet multiple project timelines.
• Plan and execute special projects as assigned.
