Job summary

Howmet Aerospace in the United States seeks a CAD Designer/Drafter to create drawings of fasteners and installation systems from specifications, sketches, and verbal instructions. You will manage engineering information in databases and work with Manufacturing and Quality to resolve issues affecting design and delivery.

Responsibilities include preparing manufacturing/quotation drawings, loading documents into databases, and supporting sales to modify products for better quality and delivery.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in drafting or mechanical engineering technology or closely related discipline.
• No prior experience required but internship preferred.
• 1–5 years of drafting/design experience in an industrial product manufacturing environment is preferred.
• Ability to read/interpret specifications, drawings, and reports; communicate concisely.

Responsibilities

• Review specifications to assess design factors for components.
• Design/modify fasteners, installation tooling, dies/tools using CAD software.
• Prepare manufacturing, coordination and quotation drawings and related documents.
• Integrate engineering documents into databases for use by other departments.
• Load documents into databases using Lotus Notes, Creo, SolidWorks, Baan and Oracle.
• Identify design/process improvements and standardize items across departments.
• Create and approve MS submissions and IMEX classifications for shipments.
