Safran Seats in Gainesville, Texas, seeks a Design Engineer 3 to contribute to aerospace seating programs. Translate customer needs into robust concepts, define layouts and design standards, and collaborate with cross-functional teams across global sites.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master’s in mechanical/aerospace/design engineering with related experience.
• Excellent drafting skills in CATIA V5 or Pro/Engineer.
• Strong knowledge of aircraft seat products, materials, and production processes.
• Ability to read and communicate in English.

Responsibilities

• Confer with customers and vendors on design requirements for seat programs.
• Review design specifications and incorporate into product.
• Prepare layouts of overall design tasks including structural and articulation systems.
• Define design standards to maintain commonality with existing product line.
• Define and set goals to complete tasks expeditiously.
• Prepare advanced BOMs and long-lead item lists.
• Review design packages for conformance to latest specs and regulations.
• Prepare drawings for release.

• Must have a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering Aeronautical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Design Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering Technology, Mechanical and Energy Engineering or a related engineering degree (minimum of 12 years equivalent related engineering experience will be considered in lieu of Bachelor's degree) OR
• Must have a Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering Aeronautical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Design Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering Technology, Mechanical and Energy Engineering or a related engineering degree.
• plus an additional 5 years of related design experience required with Bachelors degree.
• plus an additional 4 years of related design experience required with Masters degree.
• Applicable experience may be acquired prior to, during, or following completion of degree.
• Must have excellent drafting skills in CATIA V5 (or higher) and/or Pro/Engineer.
• Requires advanced knowledge of aircraft seat products.
• Must have good knowledge of materials and production processes, and mechanical knowledge of parts and stress conditions.
• Requirement have the ability to generate written communication and to operate required office equipment.
• Ability to read and review written communication.
• Speech and hearing abilities that allow individual to communicate clearly and distinctly in English.
