Job summary

Module X Solutions, LLC. in Shreveport, LA, is seeking a Design Engineer – Buildings to design, configure, and release building products, including concrete and metal structures.

You will drive engineering quality and scalable design practices from concept to production, ensuring manufacturability and alignment with customer requirements. You will partner with Manufacturing and Electrical Engineering, supporting product development and production readiness while setting standards for engineering

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of mechanical or multi-discipline engineering experience preferred.
  • Experience with modular buildings, structural systems, panelized construction, or related industries is strongly preferred.
  • Experience with engineering change processes and formal product release environments.
  • Experience preparing packages for external structural review.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain 3D assembly models for MXS building product lines.
  • Manage product releases, revision control, and engineering change processes.
  • Prepare engineering packages and coordinate with third-party structural engineering firms.
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering to ensure manufacturability and production readiness.
  • Lead new product introduction activities from concept through production release.
  • Develop and maintain engineering documentation, specifications, drawings, and bills of materials.
  • Lead cross-functional design reviews and resolve technical issues prior to release.
  • Ensure compliance with MXS design standards, drafting standards, and applicable codes (create or modify internal standards as needed).
  • Provide technical support for production, quality, and field-related engineering issues.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives related to product design and release processes.

JOB SUMMARY:

The Design Engineer – Buildings is responsible for the design, configuration, and release of MXS building products, including both concrete and metal structures. This role oversees product from concept through production release and ensures designs are structurally sound, manufacturable, fully documented, and aligned with customer requirements and MXS engineering standards. This position plays a key role in helping shape the future of MXS building products by driving engineering quality, consistency, and scalable design practices across the organization.

The Design Engineer partners closely with Manufacturing Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and external engineering firms to support successful product development and production readiness. This position is responsible for setting standards for engineering, new product introduction (NPI), engineering change management, and design-for-manufacturing initiatives.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Develop and maintain 3D assembly models for MXS building product lines
  • Manage product releases, revision control, and engineering change processes

QUALIFICATIONS:

Work Experience:

  • 5+ years of mechanical or multi-discipline engineering experience preferred
  • Experience with modular buildings, structural systems, panelized construction, or related industries is strongly preferred
  • Experience with engineering change processes and formal product release environments
  • Experience preparing packages for external structural review

Preferred Skills:

  • Proficiency with Autodesk Inventor and will consider SolidWorks or similar parametric CAD platforms on a case-by-case basis
  • Strong understanding of GD&T and engineering drawing standards
  • Expertise in design-for-manufacturing principles
  • Experience working in a manufacturing or industrial production environment
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related engineering discipline required

While performing the duties of this job, the employee sometimes works near moving mechanical parts and is occasionally exposed to excessive noise, extreme heat, extreme cold, and heights. When participating in activities on the shop floor, the noise level in the work environment is typical for a fabrication shop and ear plugs may be used, as necessary.
