Job summary

SISCORP Structures in Houston, TX, is seeking an engineer to assist in designing safe, economical low-rise steel building systems and to support project execution with clients and teammates across the company.

The role requires a Civil Engineering degree (ABET-accredited) and FE exam; strong English communication is essential. Experience with MBS software and metal building design tools is preferred, with opportunity to influence design tools and processes.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Assist in designing safe, economical, low-rise steel building systems; include cranes, removable roof sections, cable tray supports, louvers, tie-ins, and retrofits.
• Use MBS and other design tools for standard and non-standard framing; contribute to tool development and verification.
• Provide creative, economical framing solutions leveraging SICORP products and standard details.
• Manage projects with clear client and team communication and thorough documentation.
• Assist in proposal development and preliminary design of framing; review client specs and scope.
• Represent SICORP as an engineering resource in client meetings.

Job description

• Assist in the SISCORP sales and profit effort by providing safe and efficient designs for low- rise steel building systems, which include structures containing cranes, removable roof sections, cable tray supports, louvers, multi-building tie-ins, and retrofits of existing buildings
• Effective application of MBS software for design of standard and non-standard structural framing conditions and details.
• Provide creative, economical solutions for challenging framing conditions by utilizing knowledge of SICORP products and standard details.
• Actively manage projects through effective communication and documentation with clients and teammates across company.
• Assist in enhancement of current design software by providing suggestions and/or verification of engineering calculations. Involvement with development of new design tools that aid productivity and accuracy may occasionally be required.
• Perform quote engineering functions as needed including preliminary design of structural framing, review of client specifications, clarification of scope of work, and qualification of proposals.
• Represent SISCORP as an engineering resource in project meetings with clients

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelors of Science in Civil Engineering from and ABET-Accredited institution with a focus in Structural Engineering.
• Successfully completed the Fundamentals of Engineering exam (or awaiting results from recent testing).
• Effective communication with the English language using both verbal and written skills.

PREFERENCES

• A strong background in Engineering in the Pre-Engineered Metal Building Industry is preferred.
• Professional Engineer registration in the United States preferred not required
• Proficiency with some type of metal building design software package.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Physical Demands and Work Environment

• Continually utilize visual acuity to read technical information, and/or use a keyboard
• Occasionally required to lift and carry items up to 25 pound
• Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
