Job summary

W3Global in Houston seeks a Civil Engineer to design safe, efficient low-rise steel building systems, including cranes and retrofits, using MBS software for standard and non-standard framing. You will drive practical solutions, coordinate with clients and teammates, and support software enhancements.

Required: BS in Civil Engineering (ABET-accredited) and FE exam; strong English communication. PE preferred but not required. Full-time on-site role in a collaborative, client-facing environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering (ABET-accredited).
• Successfully completed the Fundamentals of Engineering exam (or awaiting results).
• Effective communication in English, both written and spoken.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the sales and profit effort by providing safe and efficient designs for low-rise steel building systems, including cranes, removable roof sections, cable tray supports, louvers, multi-building tie-ins, and retrofits.
• Apply MBS software to design standard and non-standard structural framing conditions.
• Provide economical solutions for challenging framing conditions using product knowledge and standard details.
• Manage projects through clear communication and documentation with clients and teammates.
• Contribute to design software enhancements and verification of engineering calculations.
• Perform preliminary design of structural framing and review client specifications and scope of work.
• Represent the company as an engineering resource in client meetings.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelors of Science in Civil Engineering from and ABET-Accredited institution with a focus in Structural Engineering.
• Successfully completed the Fundamentals of Engineering exam (or awaiting results from recent testing).
• Effective communication with the English language using both verbal and written skills.

PREFERENCES

• A strong background in Engineering in the Pre-Engineered Metal Building Industry is preferred.
• Professional Engineer registration in the United States preferred not required
• Proficiency with some type of metal building design software package.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Physical Demands and Work Environment

• Continually utilize visual acuity to read technical information, and/or use a keyboard
• Occasionally required to lift and carry items up to 25 pound
• Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
