ebm-papst, Inc. in Farmington, CT is seeking a Design Engineer in our Research & Development team. The role focuses on updating and improving existing air mover designs, models, and drawings while fostering collaboration across Design, Production, and Manufacturing.

The candidate will design prototypes in Creo, develop 3D models, and coordinate with Sourcing and other departments, applying ISO and ANSI standards. A Bachelor’s in Engineering with 2 years of relevant design experience is required.

Responsabilidades

• Organize and lead Design Review meetings; record actions and track tasks.
• Use SAP to submit material requests, create and maintain BOMs, and manage master data.
• Design prototypes in 3D using Creo and assist in prototype assembly; identify tooling needs.
• Create and update detailed drawings using Creo per ISO/ANSI standards; ensure tolerancing and drafting quality.
• Develop and maintain Excel VBA to automate tasks and streamline reporting.

Job Title: Design Engineer

Summary: This position is responsible for updating and improving existing designs, models, and detailed drawings of air mover components and assemblies; supporting collaboration between Design, Production, and Manufacturing teams.

Essential Functions of the Job: The essential functions of this job require the person, with or without reasonable accommodations, to perform the following:

• Organize and lead Design Review meetings. Record action items, assign tasks, track workflow, and close tasks upon completion.
• Use SAP to submit material requests, create and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs), update material descriptions and master data, and retrieve and modify relevant information as needed.
• Design prototypes using knowledge of manufacturing capabilities. Model prototypes in 3D using Creo. Identify critical tooling requirements and assist in the assembly of prototypes.
• Apply parametric and surface modeling techniques in Creo, when applicable, to support the modification of existing 3D models and development of new designs.
• Design components with consideration of appropriate manufacturing tolerances. Coordinate special order component requirements with the Sourcing Department.
• Create and update detailed drawings using Creo in accordance with applicable ISO and ANSI standards, ensuring proper dimensioning, tolerancing, and drafting practices.
• Use the following software and tools when performing this job: Creo, SAP, VBA and EDM.
• Develop and maintain Excel VBA to automate repetitive tasks, consolidate SAP data in Excel, and streamline reporting and workflow tracking.
• Use math concepts such as probability and statistical inference, fundamentals of plane, solid geometry and trigonometry. Apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
• Use one or all of the following when performing this job: Sheet Metal Flat Pattern Development, Bend Tables, Conceptual Design, Assembly Creation, Design Development, Materials, Plating/Painting, Bend Relieves, Tolerance Issues, Quality Initiatives, GDT Conversions, Drafting Skills, Drawing Conversion, Data Management, SAP terminal usage, FMEA, Project Management, ECO processing.
• Determination of the scope of qualification of mechanical components.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.

Recommended Education and/or Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering
• 2 years of engineering design experience, including design methods, engineering materials, and associated manufacturing methods
