This position can be located in Graham, NC or Charlotte, NC.

Purpose

This role requires technical, organizational, and interpersonal skills to design, estimate materials, and develop drawings for refractory linings of customer vessels and applications. The primary focus is within the Aluminum Engineering team in Graham, NC, with secondary support to other locations across various industrial markets, including Power Generation, Cement, Non-Ferrous Metals, Foundry, and Steel. Collaboration with Sales, Marketing, Manufacturing, Engineering, and Customers is essential to complete projects efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and produce engineered refractory drawings for new and modified equipment across industrial applications.
• Create estimates and bills of materials for projects.
• Manage CAD systems, including programming, documentation, development, hardware/software maintenance, and emergency data retrieval.
• Coordinate requests, manage the Engineering Request System, and maintain weekly drafting and estimating schedules.
• Review customer drawings for compliance and scope accuracy.
• Attend jobsite visits to verify design aspects of customer equipment.
• Understand manufacturing processes, product ordering, costing, routing, and packaging of refractory products.
• Provide monthly activity and workload reports to the M&T Manager.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by the M&T Manager.

Qualifications and Skills

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Ceramics, Materials, Mechanical, Industrial) preferred.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD (2D) and Inventor (3D) is required.
• Good knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint.
• Strong mathematical skills.

Experience

• 2-3 years of refractory design, estimating, and drafting experience is a plus.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD and Inventor software.

Knowledge

• Solid technical knowledge and good drafting practices.
• Familiarity with application methods of Vesuvius and competitor products is preferred.
