AMTS is seeking a Design Engineer for a long-term, remote career opportunity, requiring residence in San Antonio, TX for possible onsite work. The position depends on the negotiation and award of a government contract expected in July 2025.

AMTS-D&D Joint Venture provides aerospace manufacturing solutions, focusing on design, machining, fabrication, and assembly of ground support equipment for the aerospace and defense industries. With nearly 40 years of experience, our team combines large-business problem-solving with small-business agility, comprising civilian and military experts committed to delivering exceptional, customer-specific results.

Duties Include, But Not Limited To
  • Developing Navy Common Support Equipment (CSE) and Peculiar Support Equipment (PSE).
  • Supporting Equipment Recommendation Data (SERD) development and management.
  • Creating Contracts Data Requirement List (CDRL) and Data Item Description (DID) for support equipment development.
  • Utilizing GD&T, CAD software, and other technical engineering tools.
  • Communicating effectively with colleagues and presenting ideas diplomatically.
Minimum Candidate Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Systems, or Electrical Engineering (Master’s preferred).
  • U.S. Citizen.
  • 5+ years’ experience in:
    • Design engineering within DoD, aerospace, or defense contracting environments.
    • Design and development of support equipment (CSE/PSE).
    • Design of military, aircraft, or weapons systems.
    • Proficiency with CAD tools (SolidWorks, CATIA, Creo, NX).
    • GD&T, FMEA, thermal analysis, structural simulations.
    • Knowledge of DoD acquisition processes (MIL-HDBK-881, DFARS).
    • Earned Value Management (EVM) and systems engineering lifecycle.
    • Configuration management systems (Windchill, Teamcenter).
    • Ability to work in cross-functional teams and lead design reviews.
Desired Skills/Experience/Certifications
  • PE License (Professional Engineer).
  • Six Sigma or Lean Manufacturing knowledge.
  • Active DoD Secret or higher security clearance.
