Job summary

Southern California Edison (SCE) seeks a Design/Drafting Specialist to deliver electrical designs from concept through execution with substantial independence. The role involves creating detailed CAD drawings and AUD-based work products, mentoring teammates, and driving design standards across the Antelope Valley District Planning Team.

You will perform complex CAD work, produce accurate maps, and assist with pricing, contracts and easements while ensuring safety and reliability of power

Qualifications

• One year of CAD drafting experience or completion of a CAD certificate.
• Experience with Autodesk AUD and electric utility design preferred.
• AutoCAD certification and SAP/SharePoint experience a plus.

Responsibilities

• Create accurate design drawings, diagrams, maps and plans for utility distribution and telecoms using CAD software.
• Prepare visualization deliverables such as plans, profiles, schematics, renderings and documentation for design review.
• Incorporate geospatial data and surveys into drawings and models.
• Perform load flow, short circuit and power quality analyses to validate designs.
• Support work order costing, labor estimates and update service requests.
• Review planners' redlines for accuracy and completeness.
• Develop design sketches for proposals, evaluate clearance requirements and ensure standards compliance.
• Complete engineering calculations in AUD (cable pulling, voltage drop, flicker, etc.).
• Support small-scale projects such as residential or small commercial designs.
