Job summary

Centuri Construction Group, Inc. is seeking a Design Drafter Lead to oversee drafting teams, ensure accuracy, and serve as the main link between junior drafters, supervisors, and customers.

You will produce complex 2D drawings and 3D models using CAD tools, ensure plans meet safety and regulatory standards, and coordinate with project managers to resolve design conflicts while guiding training and process improvements.

Qualifications

• 2+ years hands-on drafting experience with leadership or project coordination.
• Associate’s degree or vocational certificate in drafting, CAD, or related engineering technology.
• Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, Revit, SolidWorks) and familiarity with BIM.
• Excellent attention to detail, leadership, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Oversee, mentor, and review work from junior and intermediate drafters to guarantee precision and adherence to project deadlines.
• Produce complex 2D technical drawings and 3D models using CAD software (such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or Revit) based on engineer or architect specifications.
• Ensure all plans comply with customer requirements, safety regulations, and industry standards.
• Bridge gaps with project managers and construction teams to resolve design conflicts.
• Assess project timelines and assign drafting tasks based on team capacity and individual skill levels.
• Coordinate training sessions for new hires on company-specific CAD templates and specialized software plugins.
• Perform thorough geometric, dimensional, and text-based reviews on all drawings before final submission to eliminate errors.
• Perform other tasks as requested by leadership

What You'll Have

• Associate’s degree or vocational certificate in drafting, computer aided design (CAD), or a related engineering technology field
• Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, Revit, SolidWorks) and familiarity with database tools like Building Information Modeling (BIM)
• Exceptional attention to detail, strong leadership capabilities, and clear communication and problem-solving skills
