Job summary

Valmont is seeking a Design Drafter Co-op Intern to contribute to our drafting team while learning from skilled engineers. You will gain real-world experience across multiple areas, working with subject matter experts and developing valuable technical and professional skills.

The internship program offers hands-on learning through project work, job shadowing, leadership development, and interaction with senior leaders across the company, with a path toward future opportunities.

Qualifications

  • CAD skills and ability to convert drawings to 3D models.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Enrolled in an accredited college pursuing a Drafting & Design degree.
  • Autodesk Inventor experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Determine changes, corrections, and requirements to meet project needs.
  • Create sketches for use by other designers/drafters.
  • Interpret specifications and standards to ensure customer requirements are met or improved.
  • Communicate with customers to resolve specification questions before drawings are prepared.
  • Collaborate with team members to develop shop drawings and provide project input.
  • Perform other essential tasks as assigned.

As a Design Drafter Co-op Intern , you'll gain real-world experience contributing to the goals of our Drafting team while learning best practices from some of the most skilled engineers in the industry. You'll have exposure to multiple areas of the business, work alongside subject matter experts, and develop valuable technical and professional skills.

Valmont's internship program is designed to provide a hands-on learning experience through project work, job shadowing, leadership development, and interaction with senior leaders across the company.

What You'll Do:
  • Determine changes, corrections, and requirements to meet project needs

What We're Looking For:
  • CAD skills , including design applications and the ability to convert drawings to 3D models

  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Demonstrated problem-solving and critical-thinking skills
Preferred:
  • Enrolled in an accredited college or university pursuing a degree in Drafting & Design
  • Autodesk Inventor experience
