Valmont Industries is seeking a Civil Engineering Intern to support the Global Utility Division. You will work with the North America Steel Design Engineering team, gaining hands-on experience across design, analysis, and drafting tasks while learning best practices from seasoned engineers.

The internship emphasizes cross-functional collaboration, coursework in relevant disciplines, and exposure to real-world projects with potential for full-time opportunities after graduation.

Qualifications

• Coursework in Statics and Mechanics of Materials is required or completed.
• Proficiency with CAD applications and ability to convert drawings to 3D models will be used daily.
• Strong MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint skills are expected throughout the internship.

Responsibilities

• Actively participate in design and analysis processes, recommending improvements to design criteria, analysis methods, and drafting procedures
• Collaborate with Manufacturing, Procurement, Service, Quality Assurance, and Engineering Services to understand the full product development process and assist in troubleshooting design challenges
• Apply and expand design knowledge while considering manufacturability and efficiency of final designs

You’ll gain hands‑on experience, exposure to cross‑functional collaboration, and valuable insight into real‑world engineering projects that make a global impact. You’ll work alongside experienced engineers and subject matter experts across a variety of disciplines while building technical and professional skills that will serve you throughout your career.

What You’ll Do

What We’re Looking For

• Rising junior or senior currently pursuing a degree in Civil, Structural, or Mechanical engineering from an ABET-accredited college or university


• Completion of Statics and Mechanics of Materials coursework


• Proficiency with CAD applications, including the ability to convert drawings to 3D models


• Strong skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint


• Coursework or experience in Structural Analysis, Steel Design, and Strength of Materials, along with advanced CAD skills and design application experience is highly preferred
