Moog Inc. is seeking a Design Drafter to join our Buffalo, NY team onsite. The role focuses on creating, reviewing, and finalizing 2D drawings and 3D models using MCAD tools, with emphasis on accuracy, GD&T, and manufacturability.

Collaboration across engineering, sales, and program management will be essential. The ideal candidate has an engineering-focused education, strong drafting skills, and experience with NX and PLM systems.

Qualifications

• Associates degree in Engineering or Design with 3+ years of relevant experience.
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering with relevant experience.
• Strong knowledge of drafting practices, geometry, and GD&T.

Responsibilities

• Discuss design, drawing or fabrication requirements with cross-functional teams.
• Lead the graphical evolution of new products from layout to drawings.
• Produce final drawings or 3D/Solid models independently or with others.
• Use CAD systems to create drawings for visualization, clearance, and CAM data.
• Support Engineering, Sales, and Program Management on bids and proposals.
• Organize drawing sets and plan work; mentor drafting staff as needed.
• Coordinate projects and provide estimates of effort.

Job Title: Design Drafter
Reporting To: Supervisor, Drafting (MSD)
Work Schedule: Onsite - Buffalo, NY

To be considered for this role, here’s what you’ll need to bring with you:

• Associates degree in Engineering or Design related major and 3 years of relevant experience
• Bachelors degree in Engineering and prior relevant experience
• Possess a comprehensive knowledge of good drafting practices and techniques, machine shop practices, part fabrication methods, mathematics through descriptive geometry, dimensioning techniques, and geometric tolerancing.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical CAD (MCAD) tools is required.
• Proficiency with Siemens NX and/or Teamcenter PLM is preferred
• Possess above average design skills, strong creative and investigative skills, and be well structured and organized.
• Familiarization of basic properties and strength of materials as well as stress and thermal effects is also required.
• Strong understanding of mechanical hardware design for kinematic mechanisms and packaging them in customer defined envelopes.

As a Design Drafter, you will:

• Communicating with all functional disciplines to discuss design, drawing or fabrication requirements.
• Leading the graphical evolution of new products from layout to drawings including correctness of proportion, arrangement of internal components, necessary dimensional information and material and/or process suggestions.
• Producing final drawings or 3D/Solid models independently or in conjunction with others.
• Utilizing the Computer Aided Design (CAD) System to produce a variety of drawings and layouts to enable better visualization, clearance checks, and provide manufacturing information for Computer Aided Manufacturing (CAM) operations.
• Support Engineering, Sales, and Program Management for bid and proposal efforts by providing layouts and assemblies.
• Organizing and planning of the number and types of drawings required to represent the design, exercising technical cognizance over Drafting personnel when assigned, checking detail drawings for completeness and accuracy and general follow through on product design.
• Coordinating project(s), participating in status review meetings and providing estimates on level of effort.

Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance.
