Job summary

Design Within Reach in Stamford, CT is seeking a Buyer to develop seasonal assortment strategies and curate a disruptive product range that represents the DWR brand while driving sales and profit.

You will manage a complex vendor portfolio, onboard new suppliers, review performance, and partner with Product Development, Inventory, and Marketing to ensure quality, on-time delivery, and compelling storytelling across catalogs, web, and in-store presentations.

Qualifications

• 5+ years buying experience
• 4 year college degree or equivalent experience
• Digital buying experience
• Strong negotiation skills
• Show strong initiative and maintain a sense of pride over work results
• Passionate about all things product and modern design

Responsibilities

• Manage complex vendor portfolio and onboarding of new vendors, driving growth and profitability.
• Conduct regular strategic product reviews to maximize and expand the assortment.
• Bring an entrepreneurial mindset with the customer at the core of assortment decisions.
• Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency.
• Assess sales potential for new product introductions with cross-functional teams (Product Development, Inventory, Marketing).
• Draft design briefs to fill assortment and market needs and ensure a great aesthetic fit.
• Review product samples and prototypes to confirm build quality, packaging, comfort, and value.
• Analyze product performance to develop merchandising strategies that drive revenue and margins.
• Work with Inventory to establish annual volume projections and initial buys for new products.
• Build and present seasonal business plans with cross-functional partners in quarterly planning meetings.
• Maintain awareness of the competitive landscape to keep the assortment fresh.
