Job summary

Shirley Contracting Company, LLC is seeking a Design-Build Project Manager to lead transportation projects across the DC/MD/VA region. You will manage design-build teams through pursuit and delivery phases, coordinating with owners, design teams, and contractors.

The role requires 5+ years in construction management on civil, highway or infrastructure projects, strong communication, scheduling skills (P6), and a bachelor’s degree (preferred).

Qualifications

• 5+ years of construction management experience on civil, highway, or infrastructure projects.
• In-depth understanding of the design-build method including design, right-of-way, utility coordination, public involvement and construction.
• Outstanding communication, negotiation, organizational and time-management skills.
• Proficient in scheduling software – P6.
• Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred; PE license preferred.
• Must pass pre-employment physical/drug screening.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design-build project team through pursuit and delivery phases, including technical writing and pre/post-delivery services.
• Collaborate with owner, design team, and construction staff to develop staged design deliverables with VE and constructability reviews.
• Manage design comment responses and address stakeholder concerns.
• Create preliminary and baseline schedules in appropriate scheduling software.
• Coordinate with in-house staff and consultants for utility relocations and right-of-way actions.
• Conduct progress meetings with owners, designers, and delivery team.
• Oversee buyout and contracts with vendors and subcontractors.
• Ensure health and safety policies are met and maintained.
• Maintain positive relationships with clients, designers, subcontractors, and coworkers.
