Job summary

Shirley Contracting Company, LLC is seeking a Senior Project Manager to lead civil construction projects across the Northern Virginia, Maryland and DC areas from the Lorton, VA office. The role oversees engineering staff and subcontractors to ensure on-time delivery within budget, while prioritizing safety and quality.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in construction management, strong communication and negotiation skills, and a Bachelor’s degree is preferred.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of construction management experience.
• In-depth understanding of construction procedures and material and project management principles.
• Outstanding communication, negotiation, organizational and time-management skills.
• Proficient in computer programs – Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
• A team player with leadership abilities.
• High School diploma or equivalent; Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Plan, Schedule, Supervise and Coordinate all aspects of a wide range of construction projects to ensure deadlines and budgets are met.
• Negotiate and manage contracts with vendors and subcontractors.
• Determine needed resources (manpower, equipment and materials) from start to finish with attention to schedule and budget details.
• Supervise a team of Engineers, Interns, and other members of the team and provide guidance as needed.
• Ensure the company’s health and safety culture, policies and requirements are met.
• Establish and maintain a positive working relationship with customer and co-workers.
