Job summary

I-5 Design Build is seeking a Commercial Construction Estimator to develop budgets from preliminary design information using laser scans, SketchUp models, and early design data. You will build estimates for customized commercial environments and coordinate with an integrated team across design, fabrication, and construction.

The role emphasizes reviewing 3D models, performing material takeoffs, and entering data in ProEst to support turnkey projects nationwide.

Qualifications

• Experience in commercial construction estimating or related roles.
• Ability to navigate 3D models for scope review and takeoffs.
• Proficiency with SketchUp and takeoff workflows.
• Experience reading architectural drawings, specs, and construction documents.
• Ability to develop budgets from concept through design progression.
• Strong analytical and collaborative skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop estimates for commercial design-build and new-construction projects.
• Review SketchUp models, renderings, laser scans, layouts and drawings.
• Perform quantity takeoffs for materials, labor, equipment, and subcontracted work.
• Estimate custom millwork, casework, signage, décor, and architectural features.
• Enter and organize estimate data in ProEst.
• Solicit and evaluate vendor/subcontractor pricing.
• Identify missing scope, risks, exclusions, and constructability concerns.
• Develop early budgets and refine as design progresses.
• Collaborate with designers, architects, project managers, fabricators, and field personnel.
• Prepare clear estimate summaries and turnover information.
