Job summary

Jobtailor in Illinois seeks an experienced vehicle up-fit specialist to develop and manage detailed specifications, ensuring OEM standards and full compatibility with client applications.

You will collaborate with sales, engineering and operations to deliver accurate quotes, monitor specification changes, and support multi-project execution across the supply chain to meet client goals.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of experience in an automotive or manufacturing environment.
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, automotive, mathematical or equivalent.
• Strong computer skills and MS Office experience.
• Experience reading electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic schematics; multitasking across projects.

Job description

• Develop complete, accurate and up-to-date specifications for up-fit to meet client business applications and needs
• Review and monitor specifications for compliance with current OEM applications, processing standards, supply chain strategy, fitment and component compatibility
• Document and communicate specification changes
• Maintain technical knowledge of chassis availability, specifications and model year changes
• Serve as the single point of contact and resolution for vehicle Design-related questions
• Provide timely and accurate quotes aligned with expectations and applicable SLAs
• Offer alternative options based on OEM and supplier limitations and preferred vendor partners
• Research and recommend savings, safety improvements and improved client work applications
• Complete price quotations on vehicle upfit
• Maintain knowledge of vendor capabilities, features, lead times and alternative suppliers
• Collaborate with the Regional Engineering Manager to support sales efforts through client, product and up-fit reviews
• Communicate with sales, customers, engineering, suppliers, operations, scheduling and other stakeholders
• Understand clients’ use and application of vehicles and components
• Finalize orderable and complete quotes for seamless ordering
• Attend OEM partner and up-fitter informational sessions and training
• Perform other assigned duties and special projects

Requirements

• 6+ years of experience in an automotive or manufacturing environment
• A bachelor’s degree in relevant fields (including but not limited to engineering, automotive, mathematical) or equivalent experience in commercial truck or up-fitting industries
• Strong computer skills
• Experience with MS Office software
• Experience reading and interpreting electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic schematics
• Experience with managing multiple projects at same time
