Job summary

Ahern in Des Moines, IA is seeking a Shop Assistant to join our team. You will work independently on delegated tasks under the Shop Manager, make deliveries to job sites in the Des Moines region, and perform basic preventative maintenance on tools and equipment.

You will handle receiving and shipping, maintain orderly material storage, fabricate on pipe for the field, and coordinate workflow during the Shop Manager’s absence.

Qualifications

• Experience in a shop environment.
• Ability to operate a forklift safely.
• Mechanically inclined with basic fabrication tasks.
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
• Ability to pass a DOT Driver Medical exam.
• Able to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Computer literacy and strong multitasking skills.

Responsibilities

• Work independently on delegated tasks under Shop Manager supervision.
• Make deliveries to job sites in the Des Moines region and perform basic maintenance on tools and equipment.
• Receive, ship, and store materials; maintain organized inventory.
