Job summary

The Veterans Health Administration, Department of Veterans Affairs, seeks a Staff Dermatopathologist to provide expert diagnostic evaluation of skin, hair, nail, and relevant mucosal biopsies. You will ensure high-quality, timely diagnostic reports and collaborate with clinical dermatologists, oncologists, and surgeons.

Responsibilities include microscopic examination, use of IHC and molecular tests, clinical correlation, and teaching residents within the Pathology and Laboratory Medicine

Qualifications

US citizenship and medical licensure as required by VA policy.
Board certification in Dermatopathology preferred (ABP/ABD).
Residency training approved by ACGME/AOA or equivalent and eligible for board certification.

Responsibilities

Perform complex microscopic evaluation of skin, hair, nail biopsies and related specimens.
Utilize immunohistochemistry, special stains, immunofluorescence, and molecular testing as needed.
Correlate histopathology with clinical findings and photographs to ensure accurate diagnoses.
Provide expert second-opinion consultations and participate in QA/QI programs.
Teach pathology residents and collaborate with dermatology, oncology, and surgery teams.
