Job summary

U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs in Detroit, MI seeks a pathologist to join the Pathology and Laboratory Medicine team. The position focuses on surgical pathology, hematopathology, dermatopathology, genitourinary, and GI pathology with opportunities for advanced subspecialty work.

Responsibilities include supervision of staff, teaching pathology residents, and contributing to quality programs, while supporting the VA education debt reduction program (EDRP) where eligible.

Qualifications

• Must meet basic physician qualifications and VA policy requirements.
• Physician must hold full, unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in the US.
• Eligible for board certification in an approved specialty.

Responsibilities

• Provide surgical, hematopathology, dermatopathology, genitourinary, and GI pathology services.
• Interpret gross and microscopic tissue specimens including intraoperative frozen sections.
• Supervise technologists and pathology residents; participate in quality improvement.
