Job summary

The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs seeks a Staff Dermatopathologist to provide expert diagnostic evaluation of skin, hair, and nail biopsy specimens.

The incumbent ensures high-quality, timely reports and collaborates with clinical dermatologists, oncologists, general pathologists, and surgical teams. Responsibilities include microscopic examination, immunohistochemistry and molecular testing, clinical correlation, teaching residents, and accurate reporting within compliant laboratory

Qualifications

• MD or DO degree from an approved medical school.
• Current, full and unrestricted license to practice in the US.
• Board certification in Dermatopathology preferred.
• Active involvement in dermatopathology practice or equivalent experience.
• Ability to collaborate with clinical dermatologists, oncologists, pathologists and surgeons.

Responsibilities

• Clinical & diagnostic duties: microscopic evaluation and interpretation of skin, hair and nail biopsies.
• Specialized testing: IHC, molecular/genetic testing as needed.
• Clinical correlation with patient history and presentation.
• Mentorship and teaching of pathology residents.
• Accurate reporting using EHR/LIS and adherence to QA/QI standards.
