Dermatology Medical Partners in Sarasota, FL, is hiring a full-time Medical Assistant to support dermatology providers with patient examinations, procedures, and day-to-day clinic operations. You will collect histories, record vitals, and educate patients on medications and post-treatment care.

We value strong communication, organization, and comfort with EMR systems. A high school diploma is required; MA certification is preferred.

Qualifications

As our Full-Time Medical Assistant you will be responsible for providing support to our providers in a variety of tasks related to patient care management, organization and communication. The medical assistant is responsible for ensuring the smooth operations of the providers' clinical day.

Responsibilities:

• Assist Dermatologists in patient examinations, procedures, and treatments.
• Collect and record patient medical history and vital signs.
• Educate patients on prescribed medications, skincare routines, and post-treatment care.
• Administrative Tasks:
  • Schedule patient appointments and manage the appointment calendar.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records using electronic medical record (EMR) systems.
  • Handle insurance verification, pre-authorizations, and billing support.
• Procedure Assistance:
  • Prepare and assist in dermatological procedures, surgeries, and minor surgical interventions.
  • Ensure proper sterilization and maintenance of medical instruments and equipment.
  • Assist in the documentation of procedural notes and patient follow-up.
• Communicate with patients to relay treatment plans, follow-up appointments, and test results.
• Respond to patient inquiries, both in person and over the phone, with professionalism and empathy.
• Work closely with other medical staff and administrative personnel to ensure seamless patient care.
• Collaborate with dermatologists and nursing staff to provide a coordinated approach to patient treatment.

Education:

• High School Diploma or equivalent; Pursuit or completion of MA Certification preferred.

Experience:

• Previous experience in the Dermatology field preferred but willing to train.
• Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) or a willingness to learn
• Experience with patient charting (i.e., scribing patient history, doctor’s diagnosis description and treatment plans, including prescriptions and patient instructions into patient chart, in detail)
• 2 plus years’ experience working in a medical office
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong attention to detail and well organized
• Ability to manage multiple tasks
• Knowledgeable of OSHA and HIPAA compliance
• Knowledge of medical/dermatology terminology and abbreviations preferred.

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to spend a great deal of the day walking, standing, moving and manipulating equipment, as well as lifting and moving objects, equipment and supplies. It is reasonable to anticipate lifting 20-25 pounds in any given day.
